This book describes what they did there, such as taking boats out on the pools, swimming, ice skating, angling and sketching; how the town council sought to make the park even more popular by opening such leisure amenities as tennis courts and a bowling green; and how an influential lobby, which sought to preserve the park as it was, resisted these 'improvements'.
